Preserved by the two world wars, the building was threatened with destruction in 2012 before being bought back and desecrated by an ambitious Nancy couple.
Major restoration work (stained glass windows, roofs) was undertaken from the outset, and the project led to a dynamic tourist industry.
Numerous festive, artistic and historical events were organised, and as it was dismantled, the site lent itself perfectly to the boldest and most ambitious projects.
